Natural radioactivity assessment of surface soil collected from Poovar village of Kerala, India

نویسندگان

چکیده

Making use of gamma ray spectrometric analysis method, the activities soil-borne radio-nuclides viz. 226 Ra, 232 Th and 40 K in surface soil samples from a specific village coastal county has been determined. The living environment Poovar was used for study. activity concentration is evaluating various radiologically vital parameters such as levels radium equivalent (Ra eq ), external hazard index (H ex internal absorbed dose rate (D), outdoor indoor annual effective (AED), representative radioactivity level (Iγ) alpha (Iα) region. estimated concentrations observed to fluctuate below detectable (BDL) instrument 9 Bqkg −1 , 21 36 453 585 respectively. Since all investigated study are within advised limit, there no radiation threats human beings obtained information this research can be future radiological mapping impact assessments.

Assessment of geogenic natural radionuclide contents of soil samples collected from Ogun State, South western, Nigeria

Background: Natural radionuclides are always present in the environment. Human exposure to the background radiation is inevitable. It is therefore important to assess health risk associated with these radionuclides. Materials and Methods: The distribution of natural radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K in soil samples collected from all the twenty (20) local Governments headquarter areas in Ogun s...

Nitrate Bioremoval by Phytotechnology using Utricularia aurea Collected from Eutrophic Lake of Theerthamkara, Kerala, India

The aim of this study was to compare the selected aquatic plants ability to remove nitrate from wastewater. Excess of these nutrients in water can directly affect human health (methemoglobinaemia) or indirectly through the products of secondary pollution include eutrophication. Negative impact of nutrients excess in surface water often causes the destruction of water ecosystems, and therefore, ...

Natural radioactivity assessment in soil samples from Kirkuk city of Iraq using HPGe detector

Background: Inspection of the level of radioactivity from radionuclides in soil is important for the assessment of the exposure to natural radiation. Materials and Methods: Ten samples from soil were collected from different sites of Kirkuk-IRAQ and the level of natural radioactivity was measured using gamma-ray spectrometry based on a high purity germanium (HPGe) detector. Results: It was foun...
